India’s building and construction sector is expanding at an unprecedented pace and plays an important role in supporting the country’s Net Zero journey. This growth brings with it a strong responsibility to actively decarbonise our business and contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future. Sustainability is at the heart of every project we create. As India’s first real estate company with approved science-based targets and a CDP rating of 'A-', our aim and commitment is to become carbon neutral as part of Mahindra Group's long-term goals. With the continued leadership of our Board and top management, and strong integration across business functions, we are building an inclusive and responsible ecosystem.
1 Water savings: For the residential business, water savings are achieved through the use of low-flow, water-efficient fixtures, treatment of sewage water through on-site Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), and reuse of treated water for flushing and gardening by residential customers. For the IC & IC business, water savings comprise freshwater conservation achieved by treating sewage water through on-site STPs and reusing the treated water for flushing and gardening by industrial customers.
2 Energy savings: For the residential business, energy savings are achieved through reduced energy demand enabled by climate-responsive and passive design measures, the use of energy-efficient equipment and appliances, and the adoption of renewable energy sources both on-site and off-site.
For the IC & IC business, energy savings result from reduced dependence on coal-based electricity by consuming renewable energy generated on-site as well as renewable energy procured from the grid through third-party providers.
